Building Alliances
AFC works to build alliances of community and faith-based leaders and
organizations to mobilize resources and provide education for family and
community renewal. By coalescing in common cause beyond typical religious
and racial boundaries, synergy is created that enables all Alliance partners
to be more effective in addressing family and community needs.
Leadership Training
AFC sponsor educational conferences and symposia addressing root causes of
marriage and family breakdown. Through its American Leadership Conferences,
AFC has reached a broad and diverse cross-section of leaders. These
conferences provide vision and promote consensus building, highlight best
practices and model public policies, and facilitate networking and
communication. In the last two years alone, AFC has sponsored more than 130
national conferences, reaching over 25,000 leaders.
Marriage & Family Education
AFC works with strategic partners in promoting and delivering marriage and
family education and training. Through such training programs, AFC and its
partner organizations provide valuable training skills needed for strong
marriages and stable and loving families. AFC and its field network are
certified by the Franklin Covey home and Family Division to facilitate
marriage and family skills training in the "7 Habits of Highly Effective
Families" and by the Free Teens Leadership Program, including the "RQ:
Relationship Intelligence" curriculum.
National Parents' Day
In 1994, Congress established Parents' Day, (the fourth Sunday of each July)
as a national day of commemoration recognizing the crucial role of parents
in raising of children. AFC, through its National Parents Day Council, plays
a major role in promoting Parents Day in each state. Parents'Day activities
include honoring parental role models as "Parents of the Year," selected on
the community, state and national levels.
