Congratulations to Gordon and Dawn Douglas, 2009 Pennsylvania Parents’ of the Year. A distinguished gathering of 250 distinguished guests, joined our Chairman Subodh and Dr. Ranjana Sharma, to honor the Parents’ of the Year awardees and the Douglasses, selected as 2009 Pennsylvania Parents’ of the Year. This event was held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA. Also honored were representatives of 21 cities from across our state. See list below. Gordon and Dawn have been married for over 29 years and have been blessed with 5 beautiful children. In addition to these five, the Douglasses have added to their modest home, an astounding 14 other children! The beginning of this giant family is itself an astonishing story. After their marriage, doctors told the Douglasses that they would not be able to have children of their own, for physical reasons. Inspired by the biography of Keith Green, they began taking in other children, 3 at a time. (Some of these children had behavioral problems; two were under house arrest at the time of their adoption!) During that time, God also blessed them with 5 children of their own, which was supposed to be “impossible”. Read more at… www.parentsday.com
