Celebrate Parent’s Day

How to Celebrate Parents’ Day

Although Parent’s Day is not as popular as Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, it is growing in recognition. Parents’ Day provides an opportunity for children and adults to honor their parent. Whether it is your City Council, local community organizations, your faith community, make sure that you that you tap into this important day of commemoration.

  1. Step 1

Parents’ Day is in July

Parents Day is celebrated the fourth Sunday in July. This year it will be celebrated on July 25, 2010. Celebrations are being held across Pennsylvania — 100s of churches, community centers, local organizations are joining in celebration of this year’s commemorations. Call for details 570 842 3205.

  1. Step 2

Invite your parents in advance to spend time with you on their day. Remember that the day is to honor your parents, so invite them to something they’ll enjoy. Consider something seasonal and outdoors, such as a picnic, fishing, blueberry picking or canoing, if inclined.

  1. Step 3

Make a greeting card, or cards, for your parents to recognize them on Parents’ Day. Consider using family photographs of you with your parents to bring back memories. You can make them by hand or design them online at sites such as Snapfish.

  1. Step 4

Family time!

Enjoy the day! Take your parents out, make them a meal, or plan an activity all will enjoy. Give them your card and a small gift if you think of something that is meaningful.

Finally, join our nationwide celebrations. Send your nominations online at www.parentsday.com or email our coordinator at [email protected]
